MARAWI NEW POLICE CHIEF INTENSIFIES DRIVE VS CRIMINALS

The acting officer-in-charge of Marawi City Police Office (MCPO) has intensified his campaign against criminality immediately upon assumption of the city police leadership.

The new chief of police assigned in the Islamic city of Marawi has intensified his campaign against criminality immediately upon assumption of the city police leadership.

As of press time, Police Superintendent Al-Abner W. Santos (DSC), and his men have already arrested five suspects on drug-related cases and confiscated a certain amount of shabu and a lot of paraphernalia for illegal drug use.

They had also confiscated plenty of gaming machines locally called as video karera which victimized mostly young students and out of school youths.

All these were done in a police operation led by Santos at a notorious part of the city called Lumber area.

In an interview, Santos told The New Ranao Star that he did the operation per instruction of the city mayor Sultan Fahad “Pre” Salic.

He said the mayor is concerned for the welfare of his constituents and is worried for the criminal activity.

Santos said this is the first time that he saw how worst is the illegal activity in that Lumber area.

Santos appealed to the public not to be offended or “get mad at us in our campaign against illegal activities in the city because this is our job being law enforcement agency and this is for their own welfare.

He said that the city has a very good name, Islamic City of Marawi, and it is a shame if this is what we show to the public.“

Santos said as long as “we are here, we will always do our job everyday.” He wished the public not to be offended for this is for their own welfare.

Lumber is a well-known drug den in the city. Government authorities always conducted raids, arresting numbers of suspects and confiscating illegal drugs and paraphernalia, gaming machines, and firearms and other deadly weapons, but had never completely stopped illegal activities in the area.
