The Islamic City of Marawi is seeking equal treatment with its mother province as far as the Agricultural and Fishery Council (AFC) is concerned.

The Sangguniang Panlungsod (City Council) of Marawi, citing and supporting a Board resolution of the City Agriculture and Fishery Council (CAFC), enacted Resolution No. 35, Series of 2014, asking the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao to accord Marawi City AFC equal treatment with the Provincial Agriculture and Fishery Council (PAFC) provided with independent MOEE and other incentives provided by the government to an independent AFC.

Haron Ismael, CAFC chairman, said that during the time of Dr. Parouk Hussin as ARMM Regional Governor, the council was always invited as an independent component city AFC, independent from Lanao del Sur PAFC.

Ismael said that during those times, the city AF council was called ICCAFC meaning Independent Component City Agriculture and Fishery Council and sit as 6th member of the ARMM Regional Agriculture and Fishery Council (RAFC). The other members are Basilan PAFC, Maguindanao PAFC, Lanao del Sur PAFC, Sulu PAFC and Tawi Tawi PAFC.

”The president of the ICCAFC then was Sheik Mojiv Dipatuan and his vice chairman, Prof. Masiding Noor Yahya, was elected as RAFC Press Relation Officer,” he said. RANAO STAR
