MARAWI CITY, May 26 — The police released six of the seven suspicious looking guys arrested when they were seen by police hiding in tall grasses in the dark on May 24 midnight

A police spot report revealed that “at about May 24, 2014 12 midnight, one team from TSP led by PSI Jamal Adiong together with two teams RPSB led by PI Carbungco while conducting mobile patrol along the highway at Barangay Gadungan, Marawi City chanced upon seven suspicious looking persons crouched behind the tall grass at the right side of the highway.”

Upon approaching the persons, the spot report said, SPO1 Ahadila A. Susulan immediately noticed the Cal. 38 revolver tucked in the waist of one them.

The report added that other suspects were immediately searched on the premise of the initial violation and police found from the area another firearm Cal. 22.

The suspects were immediately brought to the city police office for questioning. The confiscated firearms were also turned over to the city police station for safekeeping.

Incidentally, a spokesman of Ditsaan Ramain mayor Ali Adiong who begged not to be identified told this reporter that the mayor received a phone call from a friend at daytime before the arrest of the suspicious looking guys alerting him to take extra care as some of his enemies plotted to ambush the mayor.

Immediately upon learning of the alleged ambush plot, said the spokesman, the mayor tipped off the police about the call.

Later in the evening, the said seven suspects were arrested.
