The Marawi City Women Council (MCWC) and the Gender and Development Office under the City Mayor’s Office jointly organized a training on entrepreneurship and cooperativism among Muslim women held at the city hall on March 22.

The training was also in partnership with the Regional Commission on Bangsamoro Women (RCBW), the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Social Welfare Development (DSWD), and Cooperative Development Authority (CDA).

City Councilor Abdanie Tagoranao Alonto, RCBW Commissioner Nabiha Noni Lao, TESDA-LDS Provincial Director Tarhata Sumayan-Mapandi and other dignitaries attended the training.

According to the MCWC Chairperson Dr. Mokiin Nadjemah Salic-Malna, “The primary purpose of this training is to orient women on the field of entrepreneurship and teach them some basic techniques on how they could cope up with the fast growing economy in the country.”

Malna is also executive secretary of the city mayor.

One of the things the training taught to the participants was the so called “4P’s” (Product, Price, Place, Promotion).

The trainer said that in establishing a business, the quality of the product is very important for it is the basis of its price.

Another important in business is the choice of the place or location where the business would be established because the location should be in a place where many people would pass by.

And lastly is the promotion, where an entrepreneur would advertise his establishment or products in media like Television, Radio or Newspaper.

The training also taught the participants that in entrepreneurship, there is the so called 2C’s or Customers and Competitors that an entrepreneur should keep in mind.

Accordingly, Customers are the major component in business.

An entrepreneur should attract customers in ways like promotion or advertising while keeping an eye of the Competitors, if there is any that stands near the entrepreneurs’ establishment by investigating which products have the best quality or which products have the lowest price.

The training participants, mostly women, came from different places in Marawi City to learn the basics of being an entrepreneur. ranao star
