NGCP honors Gapay

By FRANK E. DOSDOS JR.

The National Grid Corporation (NGCP) has awarded Plaque of Commendation to Col Gilbert I Gapay, Commanding Officer of the 2nd Mechanized Brigade, Iligan City, in recognition of his bravery and dedication in safeguarding the transmission assets of NGCP and for upholding the welfare of the people in Mindanao.

Mr. Emmanuel D. Abellanosa, Head, Mindanao Operations and Maintenance, presented the award to Col Gapay during Flag Raising Program on Monday, October 5 at the MOM Regional Office in Iligan.

In his speech, Col Gapay vowed to uphold what he had started in ensuring continuous power transmission services in Mindanao.

He said he is also following up on the passing of the Provincial Ordinance in Lanao del Norte and the Municipal Ordinance in Baloi, specifically, to prohibit planting of trees and introduction of structures beneath the power lines of NGCP.

It shall be noted that grown up trees planted below transmission lines are causing electric tripping everytime ithe trees touch the lines and that resulted to brownouts.

To ensure electricity shall be maintained uninterrupted, local governments are requested to promulgate ordinances to prohibit planting of trees below transmission lines. TNRS
