MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (May 27, 2016) -- The Department of Health of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DOH-ARMM) turned over TSeKaP Equipment Packages to Rural Health Units (RHUs) and Barangay Health Stations (BHSs) throughout the said province in a ceremony held Wednesday, May 27, at the Social Hall of the Provincial Capitol Complex here.

John Paul Casihan, head of the DOH Central Office Logistics Management Office, personally graced and witnessed the Turn-Over Ceremony of the TSeKaP Equipment Packages to 39 RHUs and 98 BHSs throughout the province.

TSeKap stands for Tamang Serbisyo sa Kalusugan ng Pamilya.

Each TSeKaP Equipment Package consists of Two (2) non-contact Thermometers, One (1) Stethoscope, One Digital BP Apparatus, One (1) Glucometer Set (for measurement of blood sugar), One (1) Dressing Set (for sterile wound care), Two (2) Nebulizers (for asthma relief), and a Plastic Container to carry and store the content of the package.

Casihan told newsmen that as TSeKaP is a nation-wide DOH strategy as a means to provide health facilities with basic medical equipment to improve delivery of primary care services, he personally came to see to it that the packages reach directly the RHUs and BHSs concerned.

Dr. Alinader Minalang, head of Lanao del Sur Integrated Provincial Health Office of DOH-ARMM, assured that there are trained personnel at the RHUs and the BHSs to administer the services using the said equipment in serving the constituents.

He said there are many health stations in the province but only those operated and manned by competent and trained personnel are given the packages.

“This is along the priority health programs of ARMM Governor Mujiv Hataman through the region’s Health Department headed by Dr. Kadil M. Sinolinding to provide quality health services to our people,” according to Minalang.

Minalang said that there are still many families who are not availing of services at the RHUs and BHSs probably because they are not yet informed.

He said that monitoring of blood sugar levels and blood pressure is very necessary so that individuals will be aware and illness due to high blood sugar levels and high blood pressure may be avoided.

He also said that Media can greatly help in disseminating information to the general public.
