Muslim leaders unanimous in Federalism

While the turn of events these days seem to show that majority of Muslim leaders in the country favor federalism, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and its supporters still believe BBL is the best solution for the centuries old Moro problem. After all, the BBL is a product of more than a decade of talks observed and monitored by third party international teams.

But the fact cannot be denied that BBL has met thorns in rough sailing. Constitutional constraints raised by non-Muslim opposition pause a road block. And with Mindanao chief executives openly favoring federalism, it appears now that federalism is more accepted than the BBL.

Therefore, we cannot help but ask what would happen to the BBL, will the newly appointed members of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC) be able to truly set straight the Bangsamoro Basic Law?

Perhaps, it is time for the Muslims to truly choose which form or type of governance they really want, whether they are for the decades-framed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) or for Federalism. If this be so, the decades-old negotiations between the government and Moro fronts would not achieve its very purpose.

And sad to say, it appears that the Moro fronts do not truly have the sympathy of the majority in the fight for self-determination and freedom.
